Roll Forming

Rollers used to form metal roof panels

Roll forming is a progressive process that passes a metal strip
through a series of specially shaped rolls to form, ultimately,
a desired roll formed profile. Strip stock is fed through successive
contoured rolls that progressively form the metal to meet
the desired specifications.

The rolls are known as roller dies and are precision made
for DML USA’s own SAPPHIRE panels. As the metal strip
is moved through the drawing process, it is exposed to a series
of progressive die stations, each one changing the metal
configuration left on the metal by the previous station.
The DML USA Metal Roofing forming system has 15 roll stations.
Therefore, the metal work piece is created in a series
of stamping stages. This process allows for very clean forming
of the metal into profiles.

To aid the roll-forming of DML USA Roofing panels vanishing oil is used as lubricant.  This product provides the necessary lubrication for the forming process and also has the advantage of evaporating over time to permit ease of handling and installation at the construction site.

Cutting

At the final stage DML USA Roofing panels are cut to precise length after they are done with the "rollforming"
part of the system with a "Flying Cutoff". Slugless crop dies have a short stroke length, possess contoured blades, and rapidly cut-off the finished part. Since the cut-off action is extremely fast, an accurate cut
can normally be performed without an interruption to the continuous operation of the line.
